The four-year Bachelor of Interior Design program starts with a first-year pre-professional curriculum.

Admission to the first year of the Bachelor of Interior Design program begins with acceptance to LSU.Once you have successfully completed the first year you have the opportunity to apply for admission to second year and complete the remainder of the degree program.

Admission to First Year (Pre-Interior Design)

Incoming freshmen who plan to major in interior design apply for admission to the School of Interior Design throughLSU Undergraduate Admissions.LSU uses a holistic admission review to take an in-depth look at your transcript to evaluate rigor of curriculum, grade trends, and course selection all within the context of your high school.Once you receive notification of acceptance to LSU and declare a major in interior design, you will be accepted in the first year pre-interior design program.If you are a transfer or international student, please visitApply to LSU.

Admission to Second Year

Admission to the second year is selective and based on a scholastic and portfolio review.

The application and portfolio submission guidelines may be obtained from the school's undergraduate coordinator, Room 402 Design Building.

Notification

Once the selective admissions process is complete, applicants will be notified by e-mail.Students accepted to the second year must notify the school's administrative coordinator with their decision to accept or decline within 10 days of notification.

Qualified Transfer Students

Qualified transfer students from CIDA-accredited interior design programs may be considered for advanced placement.Transfer students seeking credit for design studio courses must have a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA and submit a portfolio for evaluation by the school's undergraduate coordinator.
